in network configuration there are two methods which are used the first one is Dynamic IP address Assignment through DHCP and the second one is Static IP address Gateway and DNS assignment. The Static IP address is assigned through Graphical or Command line.
First of all we will discus Network configuration through graphical method. In graphical method there two ways of ip address assignment.
- in the first one the first step is to enter a setup Command in terminal. for this purpose Right-Click on Applications->Accessories->Terminal
- A terminal open, in this terminal write Setup command in the terminal and press Enter-Button
- In the next window select Network configuration and press Enter-Button
- On the next screen select Edit Devices and press Enter-Button from key board.
- On the next screen select the devices whose ip address you would like to change. in our case it is eth0. After device selection press Enter-Button.
- Then uncheck the Use DHCP option if you don’t want to use it. and enter Static IP, Netmask and Default gateway IP. and press enter or space bar button after selecting ok button on screen.
- After that click on the save button on the next secreen
- On the next screen select DNS configuration button and press space bar a new screen will open with DNS configurations.
- On the next screen host name if you want to change,then enter Primary and secondary DNS and the name with which DNS will be searched out. After that select Oh button and press space bar.
- On next screen select Save&Quit button and press space bar.
- On next screen select quit button ans press space bar again. Now all network setting are configured.
- After that the nest step is to restart network services to acquire these settings. The command used for it is “service network restart“. after the execution of this command the IP address will be assigned to eth0.
